Reappearing Records was founded by myself, along with Dan Hill and Brian Morrison at Above Board distribution, to showcase music featured in my books as well as related adventures. Why the name? This is music that deserves to come out of the shadows and reappear.
Combining influential releases with lesser known cuts, the compilations feature the expansive sounds that helped make New York the most sonically progressive city of the 1970s and early 1980s. They also take the listener on something of a journey. Full liner notes, plus some of my favourite photos from the books, are included.
We were making good progress working on an All Our Friends compilation—with an incredible range of tracks under consideration—before the pandemic put a temporary stop to the partying as well as the momentum for the release. I’ll revive the idea when the time is right.
